Pura Vida

Hola from Costa Rica!

It has been quite an adventure thus far.

I missed my flight to Panama City because of bad weather when we tried to land in Houston, so the person picking me up at the airport, whom I have never met and wasnt smart enough to get a cell phone # for before leaving, had no idea how or when to pick me up on my new flight.

Thus, with my awful, broken Spanish and a little bit of Providence I met some folks who know some friends of mine from my church here, and they helped me get to a hotel in Panama City for the night. The next day I somehow managed to get myself to the bus station, ride a bus across the country, and cross the border into Costa Rica. I won't say I wasnt somewhat of a nervous wreck - being alone in a foreign country is a little intimidating. It's also a little boring to have an adventure by yourself with no one to talk to and reflect with.

However, I am now with Brooke in a little village called "Bambu" near the Costa Rican border. It's raining, like it usually does in this country.

I know enough Spanish and speak well enough to make people think I am bilingual for a moment and speak to me like I am. Then they discover my complete confusion and try to help me out :)

We plan on spending the next few days here and heading back to Panama City next week. I can't really believe I'm here. Es como un sueno...

Feliz Navidad!
